PancoPinco[edit]

Hi, I ask permission to continue overwriting public domain art images with others of better quality, or complete and or at higher resolution. Thank you some much. --PancoPinco (talk) 13:04, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@PancoPinco: Significant changes should be uploaded as new files, per COM:OVERWRITE. Files like File:Floriano Pietrocola - Ritratto di Maria Adelaide d'Asburgo Lorena (1822-1855).jpg, File:Marion Graves Anthon Fish.jpg, File:Arabella Huntington.jpg, and File:Juliane Franziska von Hessen-Homburg, Fürstin Nassau-Siegen.jpg, for example, should all have been uploaded as new files.  Not done Applicant has had a month to respond and has not done so, so closing as not done. The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 22:14, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Patagonier[edit]

Hi, I am requesting Autopatrol rights to be able to update "https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Euro_exchange_rate_to_RUB.svg". Thank you. --Patagonier (talk) 21:33, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Jjamesryan[edit]

I went to overwrite an SVG of a signature with a cleaned up version and realised I couldn't. It would be helpful to be able to, as I anticipate wanting to do similar overwrites in the future. Thanks! Jjamesryan (talk | uploads | contribs) 02:58, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to overwrite and replace a higher quality image, but unfortunately can't now. Request permission. Thyj (talk) 12:25, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

OswaldLR[edit]

I'd like to continue overwrite PD screenshots with better quality versions like I've done until now. Thank you. OswaldLR (talk) 23:51, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done Please remember to follow COM:OVERWRITE Bedivere (talk) 00:13, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

MarsAoki[edit]

I'd like to overwrite some files related to Olympics, and replace them with higher quality files. For example, File:Individual Neutral Athletes at the 2024 Summer Olympics Flag.svg, the current version is absolutely a mess, and does not comply with the official file that IOC released days ago. Thank you. MarsAoki (talk) 07:21, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Dactylantha[edit]

I would like to apply a deletion notice in bulk to a category of images that I am appealing to be removed due to incorrect copyright status - Category:Images_from_Auckland_Museum_marked_with_cultural_permissions as per my request at Commons:Deletion_requests/Category:Images_from_Auckland_Museum_marked_with_cultural_permissions. There are ~2500 images requiring this notice as per the deletion request requirements, and OpenRefine seems untenable as a batch editing option as the reconciliation service currently has a bug that has stopped me from doing any editing to that category. Of course, if there is an alternative to AutoWikiBrowser I would be happy to hear it - anything is better than copy and pasting 2500 times! Thank you. Dactylantha (talk) 01:47, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Dactylantha, you could request that job to be done on Commons:Bots/Work requests. --Achim55 (talk) 18:31, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

TheImaCow[edit]

Category:US National Archives series: "Airscapes" of American and Foreign Areas contains ~10,000 images which have "1917 – 1964" as date=* in their information template - only the general range the images were made in. I would like to change this to the exact date of the image. The exact dates are almost always part of the scanned image. Also, many images are tagged with author=unknown, but the name of the author is stated on the scan. AWB would be perfect for this task. Thank you. TheImaCow (talk) 21:02, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rourib.2004[edit]

Hello! I need rollback rights so that I can undo ill-faith edits made by random IP addresses and sockpuppet accounts, as well as to combat vandalism. I usually keep monitoring pages related to India, West Bengal and related political, theatrical, and infographic articles, to ensure that no edit wars/vandalisation takes place. It's very difficult and pain-staking to revert vandalised edits one-by-one by the standard undo function. Please give the rights. I am an extended confirmed user as well as an autopatroller with 1000+ edits since the last 8 years. Thank you. Rourib.2004 (talk) 14:43, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see many reverts in your contribution history on Commons. Your knowledge of Bengali and Hindi could be useful in fighting vandalism, but it's difficult for me to see the need for the flag when I don't see a history of it. Abzeronow (talk) 16:43, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
 I withdraw my nomination Rourib.2004 (talk) 17:36, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not done I'd appreciate if you could just utilise COM:Twinkle and other tools for now and demonstrate the need? You were very recently granted autopatroller and this requests seems to come too early and looks like hat collecting. ─ Aafī (talk) 17:03, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Aristeas[edit]

Together with W.carter I take care of the Featured pictures (FPs) on Wikimedia Commons, clearing up the galleries and inspecting the FPs for fake entries, wrong entries, missing/wrong categories/links etc. Again and again I also stumble over vandalism and other destructive edits on the FPs and revert these edits. Therefore I want to intensify the search for vandalism on FPs, scanning them systematically especially for edits by IPs, checking these edits one by one and reverting them if necessary. Sometimes there are several consecutive problematic edits; in such cases it would be much easier and cleaner to rollback the data to the last healthy revision. Therefore the rollback right would be very useful for me. Thank you. Aristeas (talk) 10:42, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'll just add that I did this job before Aristeas took over, and I was given rollback rights without even asking for them. I actually declined the right since I often made edits on my phone, and I was afraid to accidentally touch the rollback control. Aristeas is doing this job much better and more thorough than I ever did; he writes programs to find any problematic edits and keeps the 18K FPs in pristine condition. Having rollback rights would make this job much easier for him, and since he's doing his work on a computer, he doesn't have the same problem I did. --Cart (talk) 12:03, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
✓ DoneAafī (talk) 13:40, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much, Aafī! I promise not to abuse the rollback rights. --Aristeas (talk) 13:56, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2003 LN6[edit]

I would like to apply for the Filemover right to rename file errors in tracks. I have just over 850 contributions, however that is due to greatly increase in the near future because I am attempting to recolor tropical cyclone tracks. I have made around ten file move requests as of the time of this request. Thank you. 2003 LN6 (talk) 17:57, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@2003 LN6: Has there been a discussion about these moves and recolors to determine a consensus for them? If so can you please point us towards it? Thanks, The Squirrel Conspiracy (talk) 09:16, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
New tracks need new files, under the name "path". I am attempting to synchronize the storm names in each basin, specifically with the depression numbers. The original color change discussions can be found here. There are major inconsistencies within the storm names themselves; for example: File:1-L 1988 track.png and File:03-L 1974 track.png. The current format uses the second example, note the leading 0. In addition, I would like to synchronize old storm images (example: Category:Typhoon Maemi's image formats do not follow the modern format of {storm name} {date in YYYY-MM-DD} {time in XXXXZ}.{file extension}). 2003 LN6 23:38, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

JustThatNerdyNerd[edit]

Hi! While I'm requesting things, I might as well request Filemover permissions. Again, this will be used for renaming Tropical Cyclone path files when they form into TCs. E.g. when 08U forms, I'd change the name from '08U 2024 path.png' to 'Neville 2024 path.png' Thank you. JustThatNerdyNerd (talk) 06:49, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose edit count too low, and user only joined four months ago. Abzeronow (talk) 17:46, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
When would you suggest that I have sufficient edits. Again, I'd only be using this for renaming TC track maps. JustThatNerdyNerd (talk) 20:32, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Guideline says 1,000. If you show consistent activity over the next 3 to 4 months and ask for a few renaming requests, I'd support a subsequent request in 4 months or so. Abzeronow (talk) 20:45, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not done. Please come back later once you have demonstrated both the activity and the need. 10:18, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
